The reporting point for child sexual abuse within the community of Jehovah's witnesses has received 278 reports since its establishment in December. That says the manager of the hotline, victim organization Reclaimed Voices, Wednesday against NRC. The Jehovah's Witnesses would nevertheless refuse with Reclaimed Voices start a conversation.
The reports cover the last forty years and are about abuse “in the broadest sense of the word,” says board member of Reclaimed Voices Frank Huiting. “From cross-border behavior such as taxation to rape and incest. In all cases they are criminal offenses. ”Sometimes the reported abuse is long-term, sometimes incidental. "And in one case, parents are the ones who commit the abuse, while in other cases it is about office holders or fellow believers," says Huiting.
